Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Izel ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal data when you use the Izel website and app (the "Service"), in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").
By using Izel, you're agreeing to what's described below.
1. Who We Are
Izel is your personal AI styling app — it helps you manage your wardrobe, generate outfit ideas, track occasions, and get styling guidance through chat.
Got privacy questions, requests, or a complaint? Just contact us and select Privacy Request as the subject. We aim to get back to you within 1-2 business days, and resolve requests within 30 days.
2. What We Collect
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account data | Name, email, login details |
| Profile & styling data | Style preferences, body/fit preferences, occasion preferences, saved outfits, your chats with the AI stylist |
| Photos | Clothing photos, AI-generated outfit images, face photos (see below — these aren't stored) |
| Usage & device data | App activity, IP address, browser/device info, cookies, diagnostics |
| Communications | Support messages, notification preferences |
Face photos — handled a little differently
Face photos need their own, separate consent before we touch them — this is on top of your regular account consent. Here's what that covers:
- Uploading your photo
- Sending it to our AI processing provider for face and styling analysis
- Using that analysis to generate styling, makeup, or accessory recommendations
We don't store your face photo. It's used only to pull out the styling info we need (like face shape or skin tone), and it's deleted right after that's done. Only the resulting styling data — not the image itself — stays in your profile.
You can withdraw this consent anytime from your account settings, which clears any face-derived data we've kept.
3. Why We Collect It
We only use your data for the reasons below, and only with your consent (or where it's genuinely necessary to run the Service):
- Running the app — your account, outfit recommendations, face/style analysis, calendar, wardrobe, and the AI chat stylist
- Keeping things secure — fraud prevention, rate limiting, fixing bugs
- Improving the app — understanding usage patterns and making recommendations better (with consent, and never using face data for this without separate consent)
- Talking to you — service emails, notifications, and occasional product updates or offers (you can opt out of marketing messages anytime)
- Following the law — where we're legally required to
If you don't consent to data that's genuinely required to run core features (like your account data), we may not be able to offer the Service or specific parts of it — for example, skipping face-photo consent just means the AI face analysis feature won't be available to you; everything else still works.
4. About the AI
Outfit suggestions, styling advice, and face/style analysis are AI-generated and meant purely as styling guidance — not professional, medical, or dermatological advice.
5. Who We Share Data With
We don't sell your data. We don't name our specific vendors here — what actually matters to you is what kind of processing happens, why, and with what data, so that's what we lay out:
| Type of provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication & database | Account creation, login, storing your app data | Account data, profile data |
| File & image storage | Storing uploaded and generated images | Wardrobe photos, generated outfit images |
| AI processing | Outfit generation, chat stylist, clothing detection, face/style analysis | Photos, styling preferences, chat messages |
| Email delivery | Sending account and transactional emails | Name, email |
| Security & abuse prevention | Rate limiting, fraud detection | IP address, request metadata |
Every provider we use only processes data for the purpose we've specified, under their own confidentiality and security obligations. We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect Izel's or our users' rights and safety.
6. Data Outside India
Some of the providers above may process or store data outside India. When that happens, we take reasonable steps to keep your data protected in line with this policy and applicable law. We won't transfer data to any country the Indian government restricts.
7. How Long We Keep Things
- Account and profile data — kept while your account is active, and briefly after deletion for legal, fraud-prevention, and backup reasons. When you request deletion, it's typically completed within 30 days.
- Face photos — not kept at all. Deleted right after we extract the styling data from them; only that derived data (face shape, skin tone, etc.) stays in your profile while your account is active.
- Wardrobe photos, outfits, and styling history — kept while your account is active, or until you delete them.
- Usage and security logs — kept for a limited time, then deleted or anonymized.
- Support messages — kept as long as needed to help you.
8. Age
Izel is meant for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a minor has given us their data, let us know and we'll remove it.
9. Your Rights
Under the DPDP Act, you can:
- Access a summary of your data and how we use it
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Delete your data — including full account deletion, which clears your data across all our systems, typically within 30 days of your request
- Withdraw consent anytime, just as easily as you gave it
- Raise a grievance with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if it's not resolved
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if something happens to you
To use any of these rights, just contact us and select Privacy Request as the subject. We may ask you to verify your identity first.
10. Withdrawing Consent
You can pull back consent for specific things (like face analysis) directly from your account settings, or by reaching out to us. You can also opt out of marketing messages anytime — either via the unsubscribe link in the email, or from your account settings. This won't undo anything already processed before you withdrew, and it might limit access to certain features.
11. If Something Goes Wrong
If there's ever a data breach, we'll notify the Data Protection Board of India and let affected users know, along with what happened and what we're doing about it.
12. Cookies
We use essential cookies for login, security, and preferences. If we ever add analytics or marketing cookies, we'll ask for your consent first. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
13. Security
We use reasonable safeguards — access controls, encryption where it applies, monitoring — to protect your data. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If something material changes, we'll let you know. Continuing to use Izel after an update means you're okay with the changes.
15. Contact Us
Privacy questions, rights requests, or grievances — just contact us and select Privacy Request as the subject.
